PROJECT

3D and Immersive Design and VR Development of a Meta Quest 2 VR Immersive Training Program for Millennium’s Fiber Optic Network Solutions.

THE BACKGROUND
The CXR.Agency team was approached by Millennium to create a virtual reality (VR) training and conference experience for their employees and new trainees/technicians. Millennium desired to develop an immersive and interactive program that would educate their staff on the necessary operations and procedures to perform tasks efficiently, as well as identifying and resolving problems in the field. The CXR.Agency team collaborated closely with Millennium to deliver a fully-operational and user-friendly VR Immersive training program.
THE BACKGROUND
THE CHALLENGES
CXR.Agency was retained by Millennium to enhance their immersive training program through a variety of services, including 3D modeling and animation, storyboarding, immersive experience concept development, spatial interaction design, UX/UI interface design, sound design, Unity3D, VR app development for the Meta Quest 2 device, and VRDM deployment leveraging ArboxXR.
THE CHALLENGES
  • One of the key challenges faced by our team was identifying and resolving the various scenarios surrounding the fiber connectivity issue on the field. Through multiple brainstorming sessions with the client team and actual field managers, our experts were able to fully grasp the processes and provide an appropriate solution.
  • To enhance the user experience, our team designed an intuitive, easy-to-navigate interface that was compatible with the VR headsets used by employees, taking into consideration the different skill levels and backgrounds of the employees. Additionally, we worked closely with the client to ensure that the training and education content was relevant, up-to-date, and covered the latest fiber optic technologies and techniques.
  • Testing was a crucial step in the development of the VR immersive training program, with our team conducting extensive testing to ensure the program was free of bugs and functioned as intended. User testing was also conducted to gather feedback on the program’s usability and effectiveness.
SOLUTION

Oculus Quest 2 VR Training Application deployed via ArborXR VRDM enterprise solution for easy device management as well as application optimization and maintenance.

SOLUTION
SERVICES / PROCESS
  • UI/UX DESIGN

Enhance the user experience through the use of experience mapping and decision making at key points. This allowed users to easily navigate and choose the best approach to perform the procedure or answer questions, resulting in a seamless and intuitive experience.

  • EXPERIENCE MAPPING AND STORYBOARDING

Leveraging ShapesXR to design and plan the VR experience utilizing Experience Mapping and Storyboarding in VR. , ShapesXR enabled CXR.Agency’s designers and developers to visualize and test different elements of the experience before it was built ensuring that the final product is engaging, intuitive, and meets the needs of Millennium.

  • 3D MODELING

CXR.Agency’s Immersive and 3D Design team of Creative Directors, expert Concept and Storyboard Artists, Immersive Experience Designers, 3D Modelers and Animators helped Millennium craft a true to life experience and assets to empower as well as differentiate their ISP contractor training by simulating repairing a broken fiber optic network in the field.

  • TRACK PROGRESS AND PERFORMANCE

A system for monitoring progress during the repair simulation, splicing, and reverse repair processes was implemented. This system employs three key metrics to assess performance, including the duration of repairs, omitted steps, and any additional time penalties incurred. This enables employees to keep track of their own progress and performance throughout the training program, while trainers and managers can monitor the performance of multiple trainees and employees, and pinpoint areas that may require further training.

RESULTS
The VR training game developed by CXR.Agency was a huge success for Millennium. Their employees were able to learn and practice fiber optic cable repair and installation in a realistic and safe environment, which greatly improved their skills and knowledge. Additionally, the VR experience was able to track progress and performance, which allowed Millennium to identify areas for improvement and provide targeted training. Overall, the VR experience developed by CXR.Agency helped Millennium to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their training and conference program.
